School Events for 9-13 Year Olds
John offers a variety of different author sessions as follows:

SCARY OR WHAT?
What terrifies you? Spiders?  Snakes?  Sharks? Deadly danger? Vile villains? Monsters? Halloween? Homework? Aaaah! Meet all but one of these and much more... if you dare.
PUS, POX & PLAGUE  - a grisly mix of Science and History including a fun/gross writing workshop on smallpox & micro-organisms.

TOXIC – the world’s deadliest... makes ‘Deadly Sixty’ look like a walk in the park!

SECRETS TO MAKE YOU SQUIRM  - Wow discoveries & cracked codes.

John’s fiction is fast paced and immediately compelling. His adventure fiction is full of danger, action and mystery – often with a few puzzles for the reader to solve. His recent novel, Never Odd Or Even for young teens was short-listed for the 2015 Nottingham ‘Brilliant Book Award’ and Leicester’s ‘Reading Rampage’. In this session John talks about ideas, the writing process and what/who is involved in a book being published, including a reading and Q&A. This session can involve 'how a book is made' role-play.

John will tell/read part of an adventure, leaving it on a cliff-hanger to support pupils as they carry on in similar vein, solve the problem and move things on.
John is happy to tailor a Creative Writing session or Talk to your needs based on any of his books. A full list is available on request.

"The Year 5 and 6 pupils found John Townsend so engaging and very amusing! The response days after has been fantastic, the boys are desperate to get hold of his books."

“The children John Townsend met last week rushed for his books when brought into the library yesterday,  some hadn't read anything for a long time.’
